El Paso Chihuahuas (7-7) Lost 7-6
Gerardo Reyes allowed a go-ahead homer off the bat of Eric Young Jr. in the ninth inning, and that was the difference in the game. Tacoma continues its dominance of the Chihuahuas as they take the first game of the series in front on 7, 283 fans at Southwest University Park. El Paso managed 15 hits in the game and smacked two homers, but left 11 men on base in the contest. Ty France continues to swing a hot bat, going 4-for-5 in the game. He has seen time at third, second and first base this season for El Paso and could be called up soon by the Padres. The Chihuahuas struck out 13 times in the game as Michael Gettys and Jacob Scavuzzo each K’d three times. Carlos Torres continues to pitch well out of the pen for El Paso and he owns a 1.54 ERA in 11.2 innings pitched this year.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (6-9) Won 8-4
The Sod Poodles got off to a 6-3 lead and never looked back in their win on Thursday in Amarillo. Panamanian’ outfielder Rodrigo Orozco was added to the team on Thursday and wasted no time producing. He went 2-for-3 at the plate with his first Texas League homer. T.J. Weir was effective in the win, going five innings for the Soddies. Hudson Potts (.135), Buddy Reed (.210) and Luis Torrens (.172) all are struggling with the bat, but it is very early. Blake Rogers pitched well out of the pen, throwing three perfect innings and striking out three batters. Tyler Higgins pitched the ninth and lowered his ERA to 1.08 on the season for Amarillo.

Lake Elsinore Storm (8-7) Lost 5-1
The Lake Elsinore Storm have lost four in a row and are now just one game over .500 on the season. The team is made of very young prospects, so a tailspin was likely to happen. Hopefully, this young crew can learn from this and adjust. They have a very talented team. On Thursday, Mason Thompson was a bit wild and did not receive any run support. The Storm only managed seven hits in the game against 66ers pitching. Steven Wilson threw two scoreless innings of relief out of the pen and now owns a 1.08 ERA on the season. Jean Cosme pitched the ninth and lowered his ERA to 3.38 on the year.
