There were a total of seven men within the Padres’ system playing around the globe on Saturday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events:

Australian Baseball League

Todd Van Steensel– (win) 1 IP, 1 K

Sydney Blue Sox closer Todd Van Steensel is having a great year. The 27-year-old, right-handed native Australian hurler is 1-1 with a 1.38 ERA while converting seven out of eight saves for the team. He has struck out 18 batters in 13 innings pitched. He signed with the Padres in late November after pitching 2018 in the Twins organization, where he was 5-1 with a 3.07 ERA for Chattanooga in Double-A. He saved four games there.

Jarryd Dale– (1-5) Run, 2 K

Dale is up to .192 on the season after a slump which dropped his average below .100. He was in the leadoff position on Saturday and played second base for Melbourne.

Michael Gettys– (1-4) 2B, Run, BB, 2 K

The outfielder is hitting .305 for the Bite and has been batting cleanup for the team. He went 1-for-4 on Saturday and struck out twice. He is still having issues with contact, but is driving the ball well in Australia.

Puerto Rican winter league

Aldemar Burgos– (1-2)

The right-handed hitter is up to .277 on the season after appearing in Saturday’s game as a pinch-hitter. He stayed in the game and played right field. Burgos might see some time in Lake Elsinore and could eventually factor in the Padres’ top prospects lists.

Venezuelan winter league

No Padres’ players in action

Mexican winter league

Esteban Quiroz– (1-2) BB, Run

The infielder is hitting .255 so far in Mexico. He played second base and shortstop on Saturday and went 1-for-2 with a run. Quiroz is an interesting option for the Padres in 2019 as he has shown an excellent eye at the plate and is fairly versatile on the field.

Dominican winter league

Franchy Cordero– (4-6) 3B, 2 2B, RBI, 2 Runs, 2 K

Cordero had a great day on Saturday as he went 4-for-6 with three extra-base hits. He is up to .318 with his batting average in the D.R. Will Cordero establish himself in 2019? He has the skills to be an everyday starter, but needs to stay healthy and cut down on the strikeouts.

Fernando Tatis Jr.– (2-3) BB, Run, K

Tatis was batting third for the Estrellas and went 2-for-3 with a walk in the game. The shortstop has played well all season and looks poised to make his major league debut in 2019.
