The Padres had five players play for them during the offseason Winter Leagues today.
Here is a quick look at how they did:
Arizona Fall League
There were no games played in the AFL today.
Australian Baseball League
While a game was played today, no Padres players participated in the game.
Diego Goris: 0-2
Goris didn’t do much in the game, grounding out to second base in the third inning and popping out to the shortstop in the fifth inning, and didn’t get a ball hit to him in the field at third base. He was pulled out of the game in the eighth inning. His batting line currently sits at .250/.250/.344 in the offseason and he has four RBI.
Eric Yardley: IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 H,
Yardley came close to escaping the inning after allowing a leadoff single, getting a groundout, and a popup to get one out away from ending the inning. A single kept the inning alive and Yardley would allow yet another single to allow a run to score. The final three runs crossed the plate as Jack Mayfield blasted a three-run home run that tagged Yardley with both a loss and a blown save.
Christian Villanueva: 2-4, HR, 2 RBI, BB
After a slow start to his offseason, Villanueva broke out in a big way, blasting a solo home run in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 9-5 for the Yaquis de Obregon. He would also hit a single and walk while serving as the team’s designated hitter.
