Both the El Paso Chihuahuas and San Antonio Missions are one loss away from elimination in the 2018 MiLB playoffs.

Each team lost on Thursday. Here is a brief recap.

PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE
El Paso Chihuahuas Lost 7-5

The Chihuahuas played from behind all night and again fell to the Fresno Grizzlies, this time by a score of 7-5. Ty France had a great night at the plate going 4-for-5 and driving in three runs, but El Paso could not get the timely hit in the game. The dogs recorded 11 hits on the night, but in the end the 15 strikeouts were a huge problem as the team left 24 men on base. Not a great recipe for success.

Logan Allen was effective, but the Fresno hitters battled against him all night knocking out 10 hits. The left hander has a bright future and this playoff experience will only help him get better. A few late runs in the ninth were costly, as Jerry Keel and Colten Brewer allowed three earned runs to score. The series will head to Fresno where the Grizzlies will need to win just one game to complete the series victory. Cal Quantrill will take the mound for El Paso on Friday.

Carlos Asuaje– (1-3) 2B, Run, BB, 2 K

Brett Nicholas– (2-5) 2B, 2 RBI, 3 K

Ty France– (4-5) 3 RBI

Javy Guerra– (1-4) Run, 3 K

Logan Allen– 4.1 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, BB, 4 K (102 pitches- 64 strikes)

TEXAS LEAGUE
San Antonio Missions Lost 5-1

Emmanuel Ramirez was decent for the Missions, but failed to get any run support. The 24-year-old Dominican pitcher struck out seven in six innings while allowing four earned runs. He was followed by Trevor Megill who went two innings, allowing one earned run.

The Missions are not running on all cylinders offensively. The only managed four hits on Thursday and struck 16 times in the game. Austin Allen recorded two of the hits himself, as he continues to swing a hot bat. Buddy Reed and Hudson Potts both struck out three times in the game as they both continue to struggle in Texas. The series will head to San Antonio, as the Missions need a three-game sweep to advance. Jesse Scholtens will be on the mound for San Antonio on Friday. EVT will be in attendance.

Austin Allen– (2-4) Run, RBI

Josh Naylor– (1-4) 2 K

Webster Rivas– (1-4) K

Owen Millers– (0-3) BB, K
