The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres went 2-6 on Saturday.

Here’s a recap of the day’s action.

El Paso Chihuahuas (43-39) Won 7-1

Carlos Asuaje got the night off which moved Luis Urias back to the keystone. Urias had been playing at third for the last few games in hopes of increasing his versatility. The offense got off to a fast start by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first on hits from Allen Craig and Shane Peterson. That would be more than enough for Brett Kennedy as he allowed one run in 6.1 innings. He struck out six while giving up seven hits and walking one. Kennedy lowered his ERA to 2.88 on the season. Seven of the starting position players recorded at least one hit each. Three players collected two hits a piece and Urias got on base four out of five times.

San Antonio Missions (47-32) Lost 4-3

Fernando Tatis Jr. supplied most of the offense for the Missions blasting two solo home runs. Austin Allen got the day off with Webster Rivas getting the start behind the plate. The left field experiment continues for Josh Naylor. Logan Allen was dominant once again going seven innings and only surrendering a single run. Allen struck out ten batters while giving up only four hits and one walk. His ERA now sits at 2.66 on the year. Andres Munoz made his Double-A debut tossing a scoreless inning in relief. Eric Yardley had a tough day as he didn’t record an out in the 9th inning and was saddled with a blown safe. He gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits and walking one.

Buddy Reed continues his breakout year, by recording two hits and upping his OPS to .925. Hudson Potts hit his 12th and 13th home runs on the year. He currently owns a .838 OPS on the year. Reggie Lawson didn’t get much help from his defense. They committed two errors behind him in the 5th inning, which Lawson would eventually fail to get out of. Steven Wilson, this year’s 8th round pick, entered in relief and would allow five more runs to score after Lawson had been taken out of the game. Jorge Ona got the night off.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (39-40) Won 6-4

Luis Campusano and Gabriel Arias got the day off. That allowed Justin Lopez to get the start at shortstop. Jalen Washington put the gear on and caught a strong start from Mason Thompson. Thompson had his swing and miss stuff as he struck out nine over five innings of work. Thompson’s ERA sits at 5.02 in 61.1 innings of work. Tom Cosgrove followed and gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out three. Austin Smith entered in the 8th inning and pitched an inning and two-thirds of scoreless relief to get credit for the save.

Tre Carter led off and started in center field. He walked once in four trips to the plate. 3rd round pick Owen Miller started at shortstop and hit second. Blake Hunt hit third and served as the designated hitter. Dwanya Williams-Sutton, 7th round pick, started in right field and batted clean up. Mason house had a rough day as he struck out in three of his four plate appearances.

The Padres 7th round pick in this year’s draft, Jawuan Harris, led off and started in center field. 11th round pick, Nick Gatewood, made an appearance as a pinch-hitter and walked. Luis Guzman batted ninth and started at shortstop going hitless in four at-bats. Jacquez Williams started in left field, and struck out three times. Lee Solomon, the Padres 25th round pick this year, started at third base and walked once in three plate appearances. Ruddy Giron served as the designated hitter. He spent some time in Lake Elsinore last year. 32nd rounder, Cody Tyler, pitched a scoreless inning allowing just one walk.

Jonny Homza batted third and was behind the plate for starting pitcher Gabriel Morales. Jordy Barley started at shortstop and failed to reach base in four at-bats. Mason Fox, the Padres 21st round pick, pitched a third of an inning and gave up two hits. Hazahel Quijada was drafted in the 17th round out of UC Riverside.

Manuel Partida continued his dominance of the Dominican Summer League, as he hasn’t given up a run in his last three outings. Manuel had the longest outing of his young career as he lasted six innings. Partida’s ERA now sits at 1.31 in 20.2 innings of work. He has given up 13 hits while walking five and striking out 24. Edgar Martinez pitched the rest of the game and lowered his ERA to 1.84 on the season. He has 14.2 innings of work and nine strikeouts. Martinez has had issues with command as he has walked eight batters and given up 12 hits. It was a tough day for the offense, as they only recorded two hits and one walk in 33 at-bats.
