There are blowouts, and then there is this. The Chihuahuas got smoked today to the tune of a fifteen-run defeat, as Jordan Lyles was hit hard in a rehab start, surrendering four runs in only two and two-thirds of an inning. Colin Rea was the next pitcher to get hammered, giving up five runs in only three innings. First baseman Diego Goris was called upon to pitch in the eighth inning and gave up the most runs, with seven runs allowed while fetching only two outs. Goris drove the only run in with a double play in the fourth.

San Antonio Missions (57-39) Won 7-4
The Missions bounced back from losing three of four against Frisco last week, winning the first game in a new series against the RoughRiders. Chris Paddack had a strong start, pitching five scoreless innings while striking out three. Fernando Tatis Jr.smacked his 16th home run of the season, but left the game after a head-first slide with an apparent thumb injury, but it seems he was pulled for a precautionary reason. Austin Allen picked up two RBI in the win as well.

Lake Elsinore Storm (47-51) Won 8-3
The Storm earned their third straight victory today and are now one win away from a sweep of Modesto. Nick Margevicius looked good in six innings, allowing a run on six hits while striking out six to earn his second High-A victory. Hudson Potts and Luis Torrens continue to rake and both picked up one and two RBI respectively, while a seven-run first inning was highlighted began with a RBI single from Potts and ended with a bang on Nate Easley‘s two-run home run to left field.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (45-51) Lost 4-2
The TinCaps fought tooth and nail to tie the ballgame in the bottom of the ninth inning, but let the game slip away in the twelfth inning. Tom Cosgrove struck out eight batters in six innings while allowing two runs. An Esteury Ruiz homer in the first inning gave Fort Wayne their first run, while Luis Almanzar brought home Robbie Podorsky home in the ninth inning to tie the game. However, a two-run home run in the twelfth inning off of Fred Schlichtholz would be the eventual winning runs and Fort Wayne took the loss.

Tri-City Dust Devils (16-18) Lost 7-3
The Dust Devils fell behind early and couldn’t catch up, taking their second straight loss after a three-game winning streak. Sam Keating was hit hard, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out two in four and two-thirds innings pitched. Tri-City got two runs back in the fifth inning on singles from Luke Becker and Grant Little while a Luis Asuncion RBI brought the Dust Devils within two, but two more runs in the ninth inning off of Spencer Kulman padded the Emeralds lead and earned them a four-run victory over the Dust Devils.
