The San Diego Padres affiliates were 2-4 on the night. Fort Wayne and the AZL Padres 1 team were both off.

In El Paso, Christian Bethancourt started the game for the team and did well, going three innings. He allowed a two-run home run to Mark Zagunis in the third, then promptly returned the favor, smashing a dinger himself in his only at bat of the game. The team could not hit Rob Zastryzny, as he went six solid innings for the Cubs’ affiliate. Travis Jankowski recorded two hits in four at bats, but the Chihuahuas struck out 11 times as a team, and lost 2-1 on the night.

The Missions earned another victory on the road, as they knocked off Corpus Christi 6-5. Brett Kennedy went five solid for San Antonio, and the rest of the bullpen was successful. The only hiccup was Trey Wingenter, who gave up a two-run homer in the ninth to Kyle Tucker. The pitcher was able to settle down and record the save despite the home run. Josh Naylor drove in two runs and Franmil Reyes scored two for the Missions.

The Storm lost at home to Inland Empire 8-3. Jerry Keel was roughed up, giving up two runs on six hits in the first two innings. He was replaced by Thomas Dorminy, who threw four shutout innings, but Trevor Frank was knocked around for four earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched. Chris Baker and Fernando Perez both homered in the loss for the Storm.

Ben Sheckler pitched well for the Dust Devils, but was given the loss as the team failed to hit on the night. Only four base hits were managed by the Dust Devils, and two of them came from Chris Mattison (2-4). Luis Almanzar went 0-4 with three K’s and continues to struggle so far this season, hitting .227 on the year with 47 K’s in 141 at bats.

The AZL Padres were off on Tuesday, but the AZL Padres 2 team played, and was victorious 2-0 behind a great start from Ramon Perez. The 18-year-old lefty struck out seven in five innings and now has a 2.50 ERA and 18 K’s in 18 innings pitched to begin his pro career. Tirso Ornelas received a start in center field and looked decent defensively for the team. He also recorded two of the Padres’ six hits on the night.

In the Caribbean, the DSL team was victorious 6-5, and have turned the corner after starting the season off so miserably. The majority of the team is still hitting around the .200 mark, but there are some who have picked it up in recent weeks. Yordi Francisco is a name to remember as the 20-year-old outfielder has continually barreled up baseballs. Martin Carrasco and Jose Garcia both had impressive nights for the pitching staff.
