In this episode of the Padres EVT Podcast we welcome Chris Ello of San Diego Sports fame. He has done numerous things with the San Diego State athletic program. He has called SDSU baseball and basketball games and is well versed in all things Padres.

Chris tells us a little bit about himself and the three of us discuss the current state of the Padres. We talk about the Padres “big three” and how James Shields, Tyson Ross and Andrew Cashner need to step up for this team to succeed. Chris is a big fan of Ross and he realizes that this potential loss could be huge for the Padres.

Austin Hedges is an interesting subject as we all agree that he is the future for the Padres. Derek Norris is a great catcher, but we all agree that his time is probably coming to end as the Padres backstop. Not that Norris is not exceptional, it’s just that Hedges provides so much potential.

Wil Myers, A.J. Preller and Jabari Blash are also topic we hit on. Blash in particular is an interesting thing to discuss as he has been sitting on the bench most games. We all agree he needs more playing time, but we also agree there is no easy answer with the Padres current outfield situation. Blash and his mom recently had a conversation with Chris and he tells us what she said. Some very interesting things about how Jabari did not want to play baseball growing up.

We wish to thank Chris Ello for coming on and talking Padres baseball with us. He is a great guy and has many fantastic stories about the team. The man played baseball at SDSU with Tony Gwynn, that in itself is something to brag about. Look for some more quality coverage of the team that you can only get here at East Village Times. Thank you for the support and like always please let us know if you have any questions.
