Chargers Lose Keenan Allen to Knee Injury, Looks to be Serious
The San Diego Chargers season looked to be starting out well as the Chargers were manhandling the Chiefs for the most part through the first half of their first game.
All enthusiasm quickly left the Chargers sideline as Keenan Allen injured his knee in a non-contact move trying to get open for Philip Rivers. He was eating up the Chiefs secondary prior to the injury and looked to be having a great day. All that quickly came to an end.

Horrible news for the Chargers as Allen is a vital member of the offense and replacing him will not be easy. He runs pristine routes and gets off the ball like no other Chargers receiver. It really looks like he will be lost for the year at this point.
The team will explore internal options first before looking for help on the street. The team could bring back James Jones as he was with them in the offseason, but he did have trouble learning the playbook. Dontrelle Inman, Tyrell Williams and company will need to pick up their production with the loss of Allen.
Allen has to be completely distraught at this point after missing half of last season. He signed a contract extension with the team in the offseason and the Chargers were intent on him having a breakout year of sorts.

Allen is a key member of the team and it sure is not easy being a Chargers fan. It really does seem like this team is cursed.
Chargers fans will have to remain positive as the season is a long one. This is the first injury of the season. There are sure to be more. The game of football is about the next man up and replacing those that have come before you. Now is the time for some young receivers to step up.
Early fear for Keenan Allen is an ACL tear. Chargers WR was carted off field in second quarter. Team has ruled him out for game.
