The news keeps on coming regarding the state of Club Tijuana and who is poised to be the next manager after the departure of Eduardo Coudet.

One name that was immediately mentioned after the Argentine was relieved of his duties was Jurgen Klinsmann.

The German manager lives in Los Angeles and has made a few trips to the Estadio Caliente recently. His last sighting in the border city town was on Aug. 25 when the Aztec Canines hosted Pachuca. It appeared that Klinsmann was only there to enjoy the game.

These visits to Xolos games had been the only thing linking the former USMNT coach to the open job in Tijuana.

This Thursday, Said Rodriguez reported that according to Fernando Schwartz, Klinsmann is apparently interested in the managerial position for Club Tijuana.

According to Schwartz, the German manager does have interest in the job and was offered to the club. The move was an unthinkable one up to a couple of days ago, but the expressed interest by Klinsmann suggest that this is a likely scenario.

Klinsmann had a very successful playing career, playing with teams like Inter Milan, AS Monaco, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich, and was part of Germany’s 1990 World Cup-winning team. As a manager, the 53-year-old has also had success, leading the German national team to a third-place finish in the 2006 World Cup.

Most recently, Klinsmann is known for his time with the United States national team, which spanned from 2011-2016.

The German coach had a successful stint with the American team, changing the mentality of the team and really helping with the development of some of the best players on the team today.

His most notable achievements with the United States include winning the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup and making the round of 16 in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The move to the Liga MX for Klinsmann could mean a lot of positive things for the Xolos and the league. The former World Cup winner is known to develop young talent, which is something that has not been consistent with a team like the Xolos.

The rumors and reports are very exciting, but it is highly likely that the current interim manager, Diego Torres, will finish the Apertura campaign, and the new manager will be announced sometime in the offseason.
