The San Diego Padres had a total of eight players in action on Sunday afternoon.

After an eventful Fall Stars Game, the Peoria Javelinas were off.

Both Luis Urias and Josh Naylor had a successful all-star game, but in the end the West team lost to an East squad that rallied in the bottom of the eighth to overcome a 2-1 deficit. Urias homered in the game and Naylor had a big triple. Both runs scored were by the two Padres players.

Around the rest of the globe, both Fernando Tatis and Franchy Cordero played for their Dominican teams. There were also some games in Mexico and Venezuela.

Rafael Ortega had a doubleheader on Sunday and went 4-6 with a double, two runs scored, an RBI, and two walks. The center fielder is hitting .323, but will need a semi-miracle to earn any playing time for the Padres in 2018. He is buried behind so many other players and will need to really turn some heads to earn a chance.

Fernando Perez went 1-4 with a two-run homer and a strikeout on Sunday. He is hitting .368 so far in for his Mexican League team. The corner infielder is still young enough to develop, so this is a good sign for the San Diego native.

Franchy Cordero went 1-4 on Sunday and is hitting .303 on the year. He walked once and struck out once as the strikeout continues to be an issue for the young man. He has now struck out 17 times in 70 at bats.

Fernando Tatis Jr. has been in a bit of a slump, but is still at .740 for his OPS. He went 1-3 on Sunday and made an error defensively. Tatis has made a handful of errors in his 14 games at shortstop for his Dominican team.

Diego Goris was 0-3 with a strikeout on Sunday and committed an error at third base. He is hitting .200 on the year and has played sparingly for his LIDOM team.

Eric Yardley continues to throw well, as he went one inning pitched, allowing one hit and no earned runs. He is now at 0.71 with his ERA, as he continues to baffle Venezuelan League hitters with his unorthodox motion.

Cesar Vargas went one scoreless inning on Sunday, allowing just one hit. His ERA is at 3.15 on the season for his Mexican League team.

Gerardo Reyes also threw a scoreless inning in Mexico. He struck out one batter and his ERA is down to 4.26 on the year.
