A total of 12 Padre prospects were in action on Thursday around the globe.

In Arizona, the Javelinas clinched their playoff spot last night. The team had one last regular season game left on their schedule and they won 7-4 to finish the season with a record of 18-12.

The Australian Baseball League started play Thursday morning, as Buddy Reed and Gabriel Arias both had an impressive debut for the Canberra Cavalry. We will see plenty of action from these young men in the coming months.

PEORIA JAVELINAS

Javier Guerra was 2-4 on Thursday with two RBI. The shortstop is now hitting .261 on the year.

Jerry Keel pitched three innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits. He struck out two and his ERA is up to 4.91 on the season

MEXICAN/DOMINICAN/VENEZUELAN/AUSTRALIAN WINTER LEAGUES

Rafael Ortega was 1-5 with a run scored and two RBI. He also struck out three times on Thursday. Ortega is hitting .295 on the year.

Luis Torrens got in some action at first base, as he continues to get at bats in Venezuela. He was 0-4 on Thursday and is hitting .267.

Fernando Perez was 0-2 with two walks and two runs scored as he got the start at second base in the game. Perez is hitting .324 on the year.

Jose Rondon went 1-4 in his third appearance of the winter. He has gone 1-4 in each game and is hitting .250 on the year.

Franchy Cordero was 1-2 on Thursday and is hitting .286 on the season in the D.R.

Buddy Reed got in his first taste of Australian League baseball, as he went 1-3 with a double (video below), two runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base. He also laid down a nice sacrifice bunt and made a leaping catch in center. A great debut for this young man.

Gabriel Arias also made his debut in Australia and was 1-4 (video below) with a strikeout. He was not tested much on defense, but the announcers in the game constantly made reference to his defensive abilities. He is going to be really special with the glove.

Jose Castillo threw two innings, allowing just a walk. He struck out two and is at 3.52 with his ERA for the year.

Jose Ruiz went 0.2 innings pitched, allowing a solo home run and walking one batter. He allowed the one earned run while striking out one and has his ERA at 4.35 on the year.

Gerardo Reyes threw a scoreless inning on Thursday, allowing only a single walk. His ERA is 2.61 presently.
